Finland
We have spent in August and September 2000 two weeks in northern Finland.
Lake Inari, the river Lemmenjoki, the National Parks of Pyhätunturi and Uro Kekkonen are allowing many interesting walks and hikes.
Generally, Finland offers a good range of topographic maps, very well done and with lots of helpful details. The trails are well marked and mostly easy to find Every 3 - 4 kilometers, there is a convenient fireplace and very often, you'll find a neatly kept hut with all you need to take a break, even an oven and a possibility to dry your clothes.
Having arrived around August 20th, we didn't even have problems with moskitos.
Those who came to pick mushrooms and blueberries came just in time to find as many as they wanted.
Some photographs are waiting for you , but I hope to be able to provide some more during the next weeks.
Soon you'll find at this site information about the National Parks Pallas-Ounas, Oulanka, Tiilikka, Hiidenporti, Patvinsuo et Repo as well as hiking centers Hossa and Ruuna.
